The Open House

The open house event for the new Advanced Microwave Engineering laboratory took place on Thursday, November 3rd, 2005.  Everyone in Bradley was invited. People from outside Bradley (Caterpillar, Inc. and Peoria Next, Inc.), former students, and Dr. Shastry's peers in Microwave Engineering industry were also invited to the event.

The Advanced Microwave Engineering laboratory is located in room 245 of Jobst Hall (second floor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering). It houses the state-of-the-art integrated circuit wafer probe station and performance network analyzer. This laboratory is supported by a $265,500 major research instrumentation grant from National Science Foundation.

In the room (Jobst 247) adjacent to the new laboratory a slide presentation of the new equipment and the microwave and wireless engineering program at Bradley was arranged. Refreshments were also served in room Jobst 247. The new laboratory was decorated. Posters and guest book were placed in the hallway outside the laboratory. A handout on the new laboratory was distributed to the visitors.

About eighty people from and outside Bradley University came to the open house event. The visitors were from a wide range of professional disciplines and occupations within the University. The visitors included students, faculty, administrative staff, support staff, department chair persons, Deans, Associate Provosts, and President.

The new equipment was demonstrated to the visitors. The process of design, manufacture, test, and measurement of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) chips were explained. The visitors were able to view the chips designed at Bradley under a microscope. These chips are used in wireless devices and systems.

The visitors showed keen interest in the equipment, its operation, and the MMIC chips. They liked the laboratory and appreciated the MMIC research and development work that we are doing.

The open house event was a grand success! The event started at 9 AM and ended at 6 PM.                 Click here to see the Pictures
