Two-Way R&D Collaboration between Bradley University and
Validus Technologies, LLC.
Bradley University's College of Engineering signed a collaborative
research agreement with Validus Technologies. This research agreement
allows the Electrical Engineering Department and Validus to leverage
resources and capabilities. The goal of their research extends from
product enhancement to innovation, spanning service and product
industries in the commercial sector as well as governmental grants. The
venture has already been awarded a grant to advance wireless technology.
Dr. Prasad Shastry, with Bradley University's Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering and College of Engineering and
Technology, was instrumental in obtaining a Major Research
Instrumentation grant from National Science Foundation to establish an
advanced radio frequency and wireless engineering laboratory. This
laboratory is being utilized for research, research training of
students, and teaching. "This collaboration gives
Bradley students experience in commercial engineering projects.
Additionally, the collaborative research and development will spur
innovation in the Peoria area," remarked Professor Shastry.
"Partnering our commercial research
experience, with Bradley's academic research capabilities seems
natural," commented David Paul, President and Founder of Validus
Technologies. Mr. Paul went on to comment, "...
the attitudes of collaboration and innovation are strong between Validus
and Bradley."

29th Annual Antenna Application Symposium
I attended the 29th Annual Antenna
Applications Symposium on Wednesday (9/21) and Thursday (9/22). It was held in
Robert Allerton Park, Monticello, Illinois. This symposium was sponsored by: US
Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate, US Army Research Office,
University of Massachusetts - Amherst, and University of Illinois - Champaign.
There were many interesting papers. I liked the conference - informal atmosphere
and slower pace ! The number of attendees were about seventy. The attendees were
from the United States and Europe - both from industry and academia.
Even though I was aware of this conference (it is held around the same time at
the same place every year), I was unable to attend it all these years due to
conflict with my teaching schedule. I could attend it this year, for the first
time, because I am on sabbatical leave.
I thought of sharing this news with you.
