The NASTI utilizes a total of 6 bi-directional motors. Two large thrusters are mounted in between the pontoons, and two small thrusters are mounted inside each pontoon. The stern thrusters provide forward and reverse mobility. While moving forward, the boat performs wide turns using the differential thrust of the stern motors. The side thrusters provide superb maneuverability in slow moving situations, which allow the boat to perform sharp turns or strafe. The main thrusters and two side thrusters can be seen in the image below.
