The basic Inductrack theory is shown in figure 1. The meter represents the velocity increasing
and decreasing. The Halbach array is shown using five magnets. The blue and red portions underneath
the Halbach array illustrate the permanent sinusoidal magnetic field of the Halbach array. The copper
colored track represents inductors. As the velocity of the train increases, current is induced in the track, thus
induced magnetic fields are created. These induced magnetic fields are shown by light blue and light red.
As the train increases velocity, the induced magnetic fields become greater. Then the induced magnetic fields
begin to lag as the velocity increases more. The drag forces begin to shift to levitation forces. When the induced current
phase lag is 90 degrees, only levitation forces are present and the lag forces are negligable. The reverse happens as the
train slows down.
