Concentrated on digital electives such as logic design, VLSI design, DSP chips, and microprocessors. Added controls and communication theory classes. Worked with PSPICE, Logic Works, Matlab, L-Edit, and microprocessor simulators. Program in Fortran, C, and C++. Completed lab projects: electronic car lock, remote voltmeter, tanning bed timer implemented with IC chips and then with a microprocessor, voice recognition circuit, VLSI project, and QAM 2400 modem implemented with a DSP chip. Member of Tau Beta Pi and treasurer of Eta Kappa Nu during senior year. Participate in IEEE events. Joined the Bradley Fencing club and learned to foil fence. CATERPILLAR MOSSVILLE, ILLINOIS Improved source code for a X-ray machine that measured stress in treated machine parts. Job required a knowledge of C and an understanding of signal processing. Added simple features to software such as a DOS shell and new print routines. Replaced correlation routine with a fast fourier transform routine. Evaluated ways to collect data needed for evaluation of stress analyses to make sure other improvements did not hurt results. Tutored students in the ICC Math Lab. Part-time jobs include usher, ticket taker, concession cashier, soccer coach and referee, ice hockey referee, salesperson for Cutco, and janitor at UIUC. |
| Personal Background | Grew up in Pekin, Illinois. Traveled through Europe, South Korea, and through out the United States. Conduct Sunday school for junior high and high school kids at the Korean Presbyterian Church of Peoria. Interests are yo-yoing, juggling, inline skating, snowboarding, foil fencing, and gardening. |
