Lab Week #1 Oct 20th-25th

Initital research on actuators without motor attachement (passive actuators). Different websites visited to get a good understanding on how an actuator works.Initial research on AC servo motors conducted as well, AC servo motor maybe used in order to drive the actuator. Attended the motor modeling lecture held by Dr. Dempsy and met with Mr. Mattus and Mr. Schmidt regarding AC motors and actuators. Functional description developed this week as well.

Lab Week #2 Oct 27th -1st

Continuation of research regarding actuators. Ball screw and jack screw actuators are looked at in detail. Comparison of ball screw and jack screw actuators are made to indicate its functionalities and benefits. Further research on DC servo motors are done this week. Functional description developed this week as well.

Lab Week #3 Nov 3rd - 7th

Development of initial system block diagram. Updated webpage regarding project deliverables, current tasks completed and time utilization table.

Lab Week #4 Nov 10th - 14th

Review of spec sheets on AC and DC servo motors. Possible application of motor to actuator coupling is discussed. Research and discussion on jack screw actuators.

Lab Week #5 Nov 17th - 21th

Further research on AC and DC servo motors. Advisement by Mr. Gutschlag.
