The goal of this project is to develop an MPEG-1 Layer III audio decoder with a Texas Instruments TMS320C6x digital signal processor. The first portion of the project will be to develop a software decoder in C, and test it thoroughly. This program will then be used with the Texas Instruments Evaluation Module. The evaluation module will be interfaced with a host PC, where previously encoded MP3 files will be uploaded to the evaluation module. The DSP will process this incoming bitstream and produce a signal on an audio output port of the evaluation module.
