SAE Formula Car Data Acquisition System
by Pamela Durgan and Michael Lepley Advisors: Dr. Martin Morris and Dr. Donald Schertz Co-advisors: Dr. Winfred Anakwa and Dr. Kiyohisa Okamura Commercial suppliers of data acquisition systems provide products used
to improve the design and performance of competition cars. The Mechanical
Engineering Department requested the design of a data acquisition system
that could aid in static and dynamic testing and record events significant
to a driver's performance. The system includes sensors, signal processing
circuitry, microcontroller, controlling and user interfacing software,
and retrievable data storage devices that can place data in a downloadable
format to MATLAB. This presentation provides for review of the design's
description, justification, and recommendations for future development.
