Commercial suppliers of data acquisition systems provide products used to improve the design and performance of competition cars. The Mechanical Engineering Department requested the design of a data acquisition system that could aid in static and dynamic testing and record events significant to a driver's performance. The system includes sensors, signal processing circuitry, microcontroller, controlling and user interfacing software, and retrievable data storage devices that can place data in a downloadable format to MATLAB. This presentation provides for review of the design's description, justification, and recommendations for future development.
