The Automowbot: Autonomous Mowing Robot
by Corey Knauer and Eugene Schwanbeck IV Advisor: Dr. William Hammond The main objective of the Automowbot project is to develop a user oriented
prototype of an autonomous vehicle steering system. The outcome of the
project is the steering system applied to a drastically modified lawn tractor,
available for demonstration. The control of the vehicle's direction and
speed is accomplished by a radio control system in cooperation with an
on-board computer. The system is equipped with modular hardware and software
components which will be useful with a variety of autonomous systems. The
Automowbot platform has also been developed to allow for easy incorporation
of future considerations, including obstacle avoidance and Global Positioning
System (GPS) modules.
