VLSI Processor Design
by David Gingerich and Greg Ottens Advisor: Dr. Vinod Prasad VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) technology is a fast growing field
used to implement designs onto a single chip. ASIC design allows industry
ways to save space and increase speed. The purpose of this project was
to design a simplistic processor and implement it with both VLSI technology
and generic IC's. Using a six-step design process, the processor was formulated,
designed and tested using various software packages. The VLSI implementation
was
fabricated through MOSIS into a 40-pin IC. The two implementations were
then compared to determine the advantages of VLSI versus conventional design.
