Wireless Communication System
by
Ed Cullerton and Charles Witte
Advisor: Dr. B. D. Huggins

In today's business environment, it is necessary to have an efficient communication system among all employees. With a computer available to most employees, a wireless communication system, or wireless modem, increases the mobility and potential of communicating computer terminals.

The wireless communication system operates according to the standards of FCC part 15. These standards allow the operation of wireless communication for unlicensed private use. The standard requires spread spectrum operation which spreads the transmitted energy over a wider bandwidth. It also allows several different data transmissions to occur over the same bandwidth without interference. The bandwidth of transmission is given by FCC part 15 in the 2.4 GHz range. The signal is modulated to the 2.4 GHz range before the data is transmitted. The type of modulation used is not specified and both BPSK and FSK were considered.
