Frequency Regulation for Windmills
by
Chuck Kocian and Tim Glubaskas
Advisor: Dr. R. Jetton

In its normal operation, a windmill generates power at varying frequencies depending on the rotation of the windmill's blades. In this project a three phase sinusoidal signal is sent into the windmill generator that corrects this frequency to the U.S. standard of sixty hertz. The system consists of three main modules. The first converts the output frequency of the system to a respective voltage. The second module is a microprocessor controlled sinusoidal generator, with three-phase output. The third module comprises power amplifiers which produce the current fed back into the generator.
