A Pneumatic Active Suspension Control System
by Ron Rio and George Anglin Advisor: Dr. W. Anakwa At Bradley University in the Electrical Engineering Department, one
ongoing project has been a Pneumatic Active Suspension System, controlled
by a microprocessor-based controller. A combination of state variable feedback
and a PID controller, implemented on an MC68HC16 microprocessor, controls
valves which supply air to a pneumatic actuator operating in the pressure
range of 35psi to 60 psi. The compensated system has a fast transient response
and it is able to reject 20% of disturbance input. Controller design, computer
simulation, hardware and experimental results are presented.
