Water Level Control Using PC

Ahn In today's modern manufacturing environment, controlling the flow rate of fluids into and out of tanks, as well as the quantity in the tank at any given time, is essential. Utilizing a combination of controls, electronics, and software, an effective means of level regulation has been devised. Control of the plant uses a combination of, solenoid valves to control
flow rates in and out, flow meters that precisely determine the amount
of fluid transferred, level sensors to provide a means of determining quantized
water level, and the recently marketed M68hc11 microcontroller to compute
and generate control inputs. A combination of fault detection warning of
system malfunction and PID control algorithm is used to adjust the duty
cycle of solenoids to maintain level control. A computer terminal is used
to interact with the system, download software into the microcontroller
and provide input/output information on a CRT. The system is designed for
an operating temperature of 0o to 180o F.
