Acoustic Data Acquisition System
by Ronald Hopgood & Jose R. Rodriquez Advisor: Dr. J. W. Sennott A PC based acoustic data acquisition system has been designed. The system
is used to study room sound reflections and room reverberation time. The
hardware for this system consists of an array of ten microphones, a group
of filters and pre-amplifiers, and a high speed 10 channel A/D converter
interfaced to the PC. In conjunction with the hardware, the software helps
visualize the directivity pattern for the array. This directivity pattern
is synthesized by assigning weighting factors and delays to the microphone
signals. The result of this project can help design an appropriate surround
sound system for the room in question.
