Dielectric Spectroscopy
by Ted Hea A measurement technique is presented wherein an open-ended coaxial probe
is used in conjunction with a network analyzer to determine the complex
permittivity of methanol at frequencies up to 18GHz. This method could
possibly be developed as a medical diagnostic tool, as it allows for permittivity
measurements to be made with minimal disturbance to living tissue. Limitations
of current measurement methods are discussed, and experimental results
are presented for this newer, more accurate technique.
