Infrared Remote Control System
by Roger Dombrowski and John Buckert The primary components of a practical infrared remote control system
include: the infrared link (transmitter and receiver), microprocessor,
and the interface components that allow the microprocessor to interact
with the real world. This project involves the design and construction
of an infrared transmitter and receiver linked to a microprocessor to control
common household appliances i.e. lights, stereo, or coffee pot. The infrared
transmitter sends 41KHz PCM pulses which are picked up by the infrared
receiver connected to the 8751H microprocessor. The 8751H makes control
decisions based on the transmitted code.
