Parallel-Combined Microwave Power Amplifier
by Raja Mahmud Adnan and M. Zamri Mustafa This project employs microstrip design principles and technology. A
single amplifier stage is designed using the AT-41435 npn bipolar transistor,
which is specifically built for microwave applications. Optimum transducer
power gain is achieved at 2.0 GHz (the operating frequency) by designing
single-stub matching networks for the input and output ports of the single
amplifier stage. Two such stages are paralleled. A hybrid power coupler
is used to distribute an equal amount of power to each amplifier stage.
Another hybrid power coupler is used to combine the amplifier power from
each stage at the output port.
